My Sunday evening post “Hygge Highlights” is a roundup of shared moments that we felt especially magical; gave us a feeling of contentment; or something seasonal that captured our hearts and attention during the week.
This week I don’t have any gifted “Hygge”.
Leaving me bereft… and lost for words.
Yet plenty of questions!
On Monday I suggested a prompt for us creating a poem of “Awakening” together, linking the ideas of Imbolc and Saint Brigid the Goddess of Poetry. I set up a new thread in our chat, sent an invitation via email, posted on Notes and Instagram about it.
I hope your Monday has started out well. I thought I'd start a new chat thread for this week's "Hygge" with an idea / prompt... You may have seen I posted / restacked a "Note" this morning from Natalie Eslick
on collectively creating a "Wild Words Poem" I'm totally stealing the idea... as I'd so dearly love to create something similar for Imbolc (August 1st) with an "Awakening Poem" What do you think? If you would like to join in and share some poetic words on what you would like to "awaken" or what this time of Imbolc means to you, I'll share them as part of our "Hygge Highlights" this Sunday. These words can be something you would like to awaken in your home or garden, an early Spring delight you're looking forward to, how it makes you feel, a wish or dream for the future, you can be vague or as specific as you like. I would so love for you to join in and if you know someone who you think might also enjoy this little prompt, please do share this with them. The more words, the more "awakening" we can manifest! If you have any questions, feel free to add them here in the chat, on Instagram, or reply by email if this landed in your inbox (As I've also sent this out as email today - just this one time!) Along with your words to "awaken" ... there's no limit, although 10 to 15 words would be absolutely super.
While I received a couple of beautifully emotive and genuine private responses from two of my best supporters, for whom I’m extremely grateful and indebted. (Honestly I didn’t ever expect a huge number of responses.) It still was a complete fizzer this week.
I considered trying to expand on those I did receive with a combination of my own ideas and quotes, or excerpts from other published poems that describe Imbolc and early Spring stirring or awakening. But it did rather feel like I’d be flogging a dead horse. Instead I will hold their amazing “awakening” words and my own love of Imbolc close to my heart.
Some hygge words, poems I like for going into the new week.
There’s approximately 4 to 6 weeks left of Winter here downunder, depending on whether you think of Spring starting on the 1st of September or the Vernal Equinox.
Natalie has posted the “Wild Words Poem” she sparked with an inspiring 54 responses, including my contribution… you can read it here.
The Icicles
Every morning I congratulate
the icicles on their severity.
I think they have courage, backbone
their hard hearts will never give way.
Then around ten or half past,
hearing the steady falling of drops of water
I look up at the eaves. I see
the enactment of the same old winter story
- the icicles weeping away their inborn tears,
and if they only knew it, their identity. - Janet Frame
Imbolc
I am the dream of awakening.
I am the returning of the light.
I am the tough green shoot pushing up through the pavestones,
I am the first kiss of sunlight on the unfurling petals of the snowdrop.
I am the wind which whispers the gentle pull of home to the migratory bird... - Caroline Mellor
“Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.” - Arundhati Roy
Please do share your magical moments, seasonal observations, things you have been inspired by, highlights you’ve tasted, seen or felt, any cosy sense of hygge with me this week. I so love to hear them and build, manifest our hygge strength together.
Seasons Blessings 💫

I hope you had a restful Sunday. Drinking English tea in a cafe to escape the wild wind of the Wales coast has been a real treat this weekend. ...looking forward to hearing more about your group poem protect inspired by Natalie E. ✨
Thank you for sharing dear one - I am so appreciative (and extra so for your participation in *I am the Wild* )
