Hello again, I hope you all have had a wonderful week. A week with at least a little “Hygge” or cosy time, perhaps special moment to remember. If you’re new to my weekly Sunday “Hygge Highlights” you can acquaint yourself with the now ten weeks! of back issues through the hyperlinks above.
Last week I mentioned Charlene Storey and how she rightly explained “Why we need to celebrate our achievements” …celebrate ourselves. I went on to encourage you to Be your own Valentine. A couple of you responded with how you planned to write yourself a love letter, and one of you even shared how a recent writing prompt resulted…
“unexpectedly amazing! It became a love letter to myself from my higher self,”
Which I felt was most wonderful. I hope you all found a moment or some kind words for yourself, shared the self love and self celebration you are most assuredly, most worthy of.
I, myself dedicated a journal page to being a constant force of fire. Sure some days I only bear a small ember, only the mere breath of a fire. In all honestly it is much like this today and I’ve been desperately hopeful I can gather enough kindling to form some sort of Sunday evening post for you to warm yourselves by. Each day depends on fuel, mentally, chemically, spiritually… and I have not yet been snuffed out completely. It’s also helpful to remember not everyday needs a roaring fire, just ticking over, maintaining a little warmth is perfectly O.K too.
A few Hygge things of mine…
Today I spotted this pair of Pūtangitangi / Paradise Shelducks high up on their large tree trunk, spot the plane photo bombing the first moment I captured them on my phone.
There’s a Christmas episode of the late Billy T James Show where his fictional daughter Nadine (Willa O’Neil) hilariously gifts everyone a tape of The Cure’s “Disintegration” - the must have album of the year. We had a similar thing play out at home this week when our eldest gifted us all Hozier’s “Unreal Unearth” … How many Hozier fans do I have out there?
Earlier in the week our littlest chef recreated the delicious baked lemon cheesecake recipe his Dad made to woo me, several moons ago. We served it with a blueberry sauce made from frozen berries.
If this week’s "Hygge Highlights" created a spark within you, please consider sharing your own magical moments with us. I love to hear from you and any of your seasonal observations, things you have felt moved or inspired by, fun things you have seen or tasted. I’m always hugely appreciative when you share and restack my posts with others and help grow our hygge community, inspiring, sharing more of our everyday joys.
Seasons Blessings 💫

It's definitely ok just to be a spark sometimes and bring the fire when it's needed. That cheesecake looks amazing. We had a bank holiday here so an extra day to have a wonder down to our local nature reserve. Just quietly going about things, is the best way to calm my soul.
I love your reminder that it's ok to be an ember. That's so wise! I did quite a bit of embering over the weekend, just hanging with my hubby. No writing, or even reading. Just quiet togetherness. ♥️
